TARJA TURUNEN: Entrevista para "Anna Magazine"
TARJA TURUNEN se
sorprendió ese día en Lyon, Francia. Después de un exitoso show realizado esa
anoche, cuando abrió su mail y se sorprendió por lo que vio.
«¡Cariño, ven aquí! ¡No me lo puedo creer!» Le grité a Marcelo. Y entonces me puse a llorar,
TURUNEN recuerda el día en que recibió un correo electrónico de uno de los
escritores más famosos del mundo, el autor Paulo Coelho.
Coelho decía en su
correo electrónico que había oído la canción de TARJA, y quería escribir letras,
en colaboración con ella. El correo electrónico se firmó con las palabras
"de tú mayor fan, Paulo Coelho".

pareja va a mojarse los pies en las aguas calientes de
las Seychelles.
EL CUERPO | EN EL CAMINO DE LAS CARAVANAS
«Cuando tenía siete años,
miraba al campo desde la ventana de mi dormitorio, había una casa espeluznante
en el campo, también zapatos y libros viejos en piso de arriba de esta casa que
se terminó y a donde no podía subir. Al oscurecer,
la casa espantaba y yo corría a casa.
En esta área creció
"mi árbol". Mi madre me dijo que algún día me iba a caer de cabeza en
el piso de tanto trepar en ese árbol.
Pero no me caí. Yo siempre estaba allí, escribiendo y al llegar a casa tenía
los bolsillos llenos de historias escritas en pedazos de papel.
Yo ya era una artista cuando
era pequeña, cuando recibimos visitas, yo era hacía un espectáculo de
marionetas detrás del televisor. A los tres años cuando ya tenía un gran
guardarropa. A veces me cambiaba de ropa cinco veces al día.
En nuestras vacaciones de
verano, nuestra familia viajaba en caravanas por Finlandia. Cuando hacíamos viajes a
conciertos y al teatro siempre estaba encantaba. Éramos una familia bien ruidosa,
y hasta nuestros gatos y perros estaban escuchando nuestra música.
Empecé a cantar, antes de
empezar a hablar. Empecé a tocar el teclado con un dedo, mi madre me preguntó
si quería aprender a tocar el piano. "Sí", le susurré. Algún tiempo
después recibí un piano. Un piano Hellas que todavía existe y se encuentra bien
en Buenos Aires.»
RELACIONES | TARJA Y LOS CHICOS
«Mi infancia estuvo llena de niños. Tenía dos hermanos, y estudió en la
clase la escuela de Puhos, donde yo fui la única chica en clase durante seis
años. Las chicas más jóvenes me atormentaban porque yo era buena estudiante.
Estaban enojadas porque tocaba el piano en una escuela donde el director era un
músico. En un pequeño pueblo, que una familia que cambiara el coche era estaba
razón suficiente para la intimidación. La intimidación me ha causado problemas
estomacales. Acabé siendo muy tímida, y me dolía el estómago. Eso todavía me sucede.
Con los chicos tenía que ser más fuerte de lo que era. Me sentía cómoda
con los amigos de mi hermano, que eran mayores que yo. Hablaba mucho con ellos
y crecí con esa compañía.
Las cosas cambiaron en la escuela de arte de Savonlinna. Los intereses
de los niños eran muy positivos para mí, después de todo el sufrimiento en la
escuela y la confianza en mi aumentó, las mejores cosas de esta época fueron el
castillo Olavinlinna y la ópera, las emociones presentes en la música, las
historias sobre la muerte, la madurez y el amor. Yo era muy bohemia cuando era
un adolescente, entraba y canta con cortinas delante del espejo.»
RELACIONES | UN SANTUARIO DEDICADO A LA MADRE
«Mi madre fue un ejemplo de cómo una persona puede
esforzarse por lograr algo, y lo que uno puede soportar, hasta el dolor más
grande en la vida. Tengo mucho que aprender en este sentido. Una vez que mi
madre llegó a casa del trabajo, ella empezó a limpiar y yo como adolescente, me
preguntaba cómo diablos podía hacer eso, pero en los dos últimos años me he
dado cuenta que estoy empezando a parecerse mucho a ella en este aspecto. No
importa lo cansada que esté, siempre trato de mantener mi casa limpia y
ordenada.
Mi madre era dueña de una personalidad chispeante y la sensualidad
femenina era algo importante para ella, ella nunca fue al mercado sin barra de
labios y voy a comprar en mi estado natural, y no pienso en nada de eso!
Cuando hice la primera vez en Buenos Aires “pasteles de Karelia”, pensé
en mi madre. Grité de alegría cuando encontré harina de centeno en una tienda
de productos naturales. Mientras preparaba los pasteles, me fui a la pequeña
capilla que construí para ella y le dije: 'mamá mira, aquí estoy! Es que
este es la tradicional o es mi receta? Es probablemente mi receta!'
Cuando estamos en casa, nunca falta la luz de una vela en el santuario
de mi madre, me enteré de su enfermedad cuando estudiaba en la Academia
Sibelius en Kuopio y cuando ella fue a visitarme en Kuopio, se quitó la
chaqueta. Vi que había un solo seno. Mi mundo se detuvo, y me sentí atrapada en
un hoyo negro del miedo que sentí, pero mi madre me dijo que no tenía nada que
temer, que fue operado, y ahora todo estaba bien.
Mi madre luchó durante cinco años. Al principio había
mejorado, pero luego se enfermó de nuevo. En el último mes me mudé a su casa en
Karelia del Norte, para cuidar de ella. Ella murió en 2003, y fue una gran

MENTE | APOYO DE MARIDO
«Siempre he buscado la perfección. Si alguien me pregunta

Mi esposo, Marcelo, es muy quien mejor me apoya. Él es un hombre a

del Sur Marcelo como nuestro productor. Fue él quien llevó a un concierto de
NIGHTWISH a Chile por primera vez.
Marcelo se dio cuenta de que los chicos siempre me dejaban sola, así
que empezó a cuidar de mí. Fue genial tener a alguien a mi lado.
En los primeros tres años tuvimos una relación de larga distancia.
Maldita sea, era horrible! Terminaba llorando en el aeropuerto, Marcelo me
pidió que me casara en la ópera Norma en Buenos Aires. Fue la cosa más
romántica del mundo.
América del Sur es un continente de grandes diferencias culturales. En
Argentina, la gente es casi tan silenciosa como la de Finlandia, pero en Brasil
se oye hablar en voz alta en cualquier sitio. El lugar de la mujer no es como se
puede pensar, la madre es la cabeza de la casa y tiene la última palabra en
asuntos de familia. Los hombres no son débiles, pero que valoran por encima de
todo a las mujeres.»
MENTE | DEVUELTA A LOS DÍAS DE LA INTIMIDACIÓN
«A TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN lo conocí en la escuela primaria. Su madre fue mi
profesora de piano. NIGHTWISH fue era el sueño TUOMAS! En mis sueños más
salvajes pensé que sería genial hacer una vida cantando, pero nunca se imaginé
lograr el éxito en todo el mundo, a los dieciocho años de edad. Creo que
ninguno de nosotros esperaba eso. Sin embargo, a música clásica siempre ha sido
la cosa más importante en mi vida, pero NIGHTWISH despertó algo diferente en

apoya. Somos el yin y el yang de cada uno. Yin es oscuro, negativo, pasiva y
femenina, Yang ya está brillante, positivo, activo y masculino.
La vida tiene sus momentos oscuros, pero la luz está en
cada uno de nosotros. Han pasado seis años después de NIGHTWISH, y mi energía
fluye ahora libremente. Hoy en día no existe una "TARJA Metal" y una
"banda clásica", sino ambas. Me gusta incursionar en este mundo
musical tan diverso.

«Nunca he tenido una pasión por el ejercicio. En la universidad me
despertaba a las siete de la mañana para ejercitarme antes de la escuela.
Después de eso no he hecho mucho ejercicio. A los treinta años, me di cuenta de
que tenía que empezar a hacer algo para que mi trasero permaneciera más tiempo
en su lugar. Afortunadamente, las dos horas de ejercicio y sudor en el
escenario me ayudan a mantenerme en forma.
