TARJA TURUNEN, la diosa del metal.

La cantante finlandesa que llega por primera vez a Córdoba habla de dos de sus influencias: Michael Jackson y Whitney Houston. Y de su matrimonio argentino.

TARJA presentará su tercer disco solista tras la separación de NIGHTWISH.

No por conocida, al menos en círculos del heavy metal, la historia de TARJA TURUNEN deja de resultar curiosa. Nacida en un país cuyo solo nombre evoca heladas estepas y frío glacial, esta finlandesa supo llevar durante años la corona de reina del metal con NIGHTWISH, la banda que fundó con dos EXamigos en 1996 y que es a la fecha la única referencia finlandesa exitosa fronteras afuera, y unió su vida hace 12 años a la de MARCELO CABULI, el manager argentino que trajo por primera vez a la que era su banda a la Argentina. De hecho, aunque la charla que originó esta entrevista haya sido telefónica y con ella hablando desde el DF mejicano, su residencia oficial es en nuestro país junto a su esposo, y es la segunda hincha internacional más famosa de San Lorenzo, después de Viggo Mortensen.

«Sí, ahora estamos en México ¡despúes de un viaje de 32 horas desde Rusia! Igual no me quejo, hace más de cuatro meses que estoy de gira, tan cansada y al mismo tiempo tan agradecida… Hacer música no es una cosa fácil, el negocio está permanentemente cambiando, pero ser artista hoy en día es un enorme privilegio, algo muy hermoso», dice en correcto inglés y con una voz que de tan cálida desafía el prejuicio sobre su nacionalidad.

TARJA llegará por primera vez a Córdoba el martes para presentar WHAT LIES BENEATH, el tercer disco solista desde su separación de NIGHTWISH en 2005, material con el que acentúa su conexión con la música clásica y el pop, vertiente de las que (no tan) sorprendentemente se nutrió su música en sus inicios y ahora. De entrada nomás, y a raíz de una pregunta sobre su nuevo video para Until My Last Breath, corte del álbum en cuestión en el que actúa su propia muerte en un ataúd, la chica muestra que puede hacer añicos los prejuicios.

¿Por qué simular tu propia muerte en un clip?

«Me parece que los medios, la gente en general, todos tenemos una memoria bastante frágil. La muerte de Michael Jackson fue para mí algo sumamente drástico porque era y siempre será el rey del pop, sin importar los rumores sobre su vida privada y todo lo que se diga. Pero si te acordás, antes de los ensayos de esos shows en Londres en medio de los que finalmente murió, lo único que parecía interesar era eso, y horas después de su muerte todos los diarios titulaban “El rey del pop ha muerto” y hablaban de “la muerte del mejor cantante del universo”. Eso me puso muy, pero muy furiosa, al punto que pensé “debo hacer algo”. De ahí salió la idea de ese videoclip, de esa muerte tan triste convertida en espectáculo.»

De hecho dio la impresión de que su funeral fue una gran presentación final…

«Claro. Todo era un gran show, el acoso de la prensa… me pone muy mal recordarlo. Pasó lo mismo con otra cantante muy importante para mí: Whitney Houston, hace apenas semanas. Lloré muchísimo, estaba muy triste porque fue una cantante que me inspiró cuando era pequeña, siempre cantaba sus canciones, me conocía todos sus hits… admiraba su increíble voz, pero sabés que cuando tomás todas las decisiones equivocadas en tu vida algo puede salir mal. De veras que me pone muy triste hablar de las leyendas de la música que se han ido de esa manera.»

No deja de ser curioso que alguien tan vinculado al metal como vos reconozca dos influencias tan fuera del género.

«Hay mucho conservador heavy, pero no es mi problema. Siempre entendí la música como una emoción: si me toca, voy por eso, si no, no pierdo el tiempo. Ese es el punto con la música, tiene que tocarte, si no lo hace no hay nada. El día que no pueda hacer llorar o reir a alguien con mi música, voy a sentirme muy miserable.»

¿Cuánto influyó que estés casada con un argentino para empezar a girar por Sudamérica?

«Marcelo fue quien trajo a NIGHTWISH por primera vez a Sudamérica, y el primero que trajo a otras bandas finesas antes de la mía, como promotor. Así que muchas bandas de Finlandia deberían estar agradecidas a mi marido. En el principio fue trabajo y nada más, pero el amor llegó inesperadamente a mi vida y ya llevamos 12 años juntos, con la idea de formar una familia un día. No sé si él es la única razón por la que he podido presentarme en Sudamérica o si es la música que lo ha hecho por sí misma.»

¿Hay receta para que funcione?

«Somos muy felices trabajando y queriéndonos. Mucha gente se pregunta cómo mierda funciona esa combinación y yo no lo sé. Solamente puedo decir que lo pasamos maravillosamente bien. Supongo que he tenido mucha suerte.»

La última ¿Conociste a Viggo Mortensen en la cancha de San Lorenzo?

«¡No aún! (risas) Se suponía que nos encontraríamos en la cancha y al final se canceló. No pude, pero espero pase algún día.»

«There´re many conservative-heavy, but not my problem. I always understood music as an emotion, if I have to, go for it, otherwise do not waste time. That is where the music has to touch you, if it does nothing. The day can not make someone laugh or mourn with my music, I feel very miserable.»

How much influence you're married to an Argentine to start spinning around South America?

«Marcelo was the one who brought NIGHTWISH for the first time to South America, and first brought to other Finnish bands before mine, as a promoter. TARJA, has hecho el verano pasado en un dúo con Kipelov, dime, ¿cómo surgió la idea para cantar a dúo?

«Kipelov se puso en contacto conmigo antes de este proyecto, pero en ese momento era imposible. Cuando se dio cuenta de este gran festival “Rock in Volga,” decidimos hacer esta canción, y fue muy interesante.»

¿Hay planes de grabar en estudio el dúo con Valery Kipelov?

«En este momento no hay planes para su registro.»

¿Recuerdas tu primer amor y la primera cita?

TARJA, ¿Qué te gusta más – el clima de Finlandia frío o el clima caliente de Argentina? Y qué es lo que más te gusta de la cultura latinoamericana?

«Prefiero Argentina las cuatro estaciones del año. Todos ellas son más cálidas que las finesas. En Argentina, la gente es más abierta, es más fácile de aceptar las diferentes culturas, es más fácil percibir los problemas cotidianos. Sin embargo, hay una comida muy sabrosa, con un montón de influencias del italiano, español, portugués y de la cocina árabe. El tiempo es mucho mejor que en el norte de Europa. La gente en Argentina, me encanta poder vivir en su país y hablo de su país como su segundo hogar. Son muy amables y gente solidaria.»

Cuando se compara la música rock y el Olimpo griego, eres sin duda, la principal diosa Hera. ¿Y quién de los roqueros, los hombres, se merecen el título de Zeus de rock?

He intentado encontrar un análogo de su nombre en ruso: Daria, Tatiana… ¿Cuál te gusta más?

«Suena interesante!»

Si pudieras tener un don, cuál te gustaría tener: el don de leer los pensamientos de otras personas o la capacidad de hacerte invisible cuando desees?
 «Voy a elegir la oportunidad de convertirme en invisible. Eso sería genial! No me importa lo que piensen los demás. A mí me parece que la capacidad de leer la mente sólo puede perjudicar a la salud mental de su dueño – hay personas tan extrañas.»

Si tuvieras la oportunidad de elegir un obra en cualquier producción de la ópera, ¿cuál te gustaría realizar?
«Hay algunas funciones interesantes de ópera para soprano lírica, pero yo no soy un cantante de ópera. En cuanto al repertorio clásico, prefiero más la música de cámara que la ópera. Además, me gustaría poder actuar varios años realmente en el escenario de la ópera.Espero que pase un día, porque cada día hay que trabajar mucho en tu voz. Me gustaría llevar a cabo lote de Lauretta de “Gianni Schicchi”, Tatiana en “Eugene Onegin” y Pamina en “La flauta mágica”.»

«No.»

Mi nombre es Victor, tengo 60 años de edad, pero supongo que no soy el viejo ventilador de su talento. ¿Sabe usted cual es el más joven de sus fans?

«Creo que sería muy infeliz sin la alegría que me da cantar. Creo que voy a estar más involucrada en la enseñanza de canto, y mis horarios de los conciertos variarán un poco, pero espero que eso no me haga daño, y seguir evolucionando musicalmente. Quiero en algún momento convertirme en madre, pero también no cambio mis planes en la música. No descarto diferentes escenarios, pero sigo soñando con la música y espero que esto nunca vaya a cambiar.»

Muchos grupos conocidos están tratando de usar la música para promover sus ideas políticas / religiosas / social. ¿Cuál es tu actitud hacia esto? ¿Y cómo cree usted que es posible cambiar algo en la sociedad y el mundo por medio de música, especialmente el plan de extremo?

«La música cambia vidas de la gente todos los días, yo creo en ella. Por ejemplo, me cambió la vida! Esta es la última gira con el álbum de WHAT LIES BENEATH que comenzó hace como un mes. ¿Qué conciertos disfrutarte más hasta ahora?
«Todos ellos son un poco diferente pero sí disfruté de ellos todo lo mismo y se siente cómodo en todas las etapas.»

¿Hay algún país que tengas ganas de visitar?
«¡Todos ellos! Sin embargo, espero a un buen restaurante en París.»

¿Prefierís lugares grandes o pequeños? Me refiero a más de 3000 o algunos conciertos del club?
«Como he dicho antes, me siento cómodo en todas las etapas. Es diferente cuando tocás en un club muy pequeño donde se puede sentir el aliento de la gente hacia uno, pero esto puede ser muy intenso, por supuesto, y también es bonito tocar en un gran lugar con ruidosos ventiladores. La energía es diferente, pero me divierto en todas las situaciones.»

¿Podría nombrar algunas canciones que realmente te gusta tocar? ¿Cuáles son las canciones que disfrutás durante los conciertos?
«Hmmm, tal vez con Underneath, un solo o Falling Awake, Dark Star, también el set acústico.»

¿Estás preparando nuevo material con sus otras bandas? ¿Podría usted revelar algunos secretos, tal vez?
«Sí, constantemente! :-)
En abril tengo la intención de lanzar el álbum debut de "The Help". Más tarde en el otoño tendrá lugar el 2° álbum de "Tieflader" y antes del verano voy a grabar las guitarras para el nuevo álbum acústico de mi esposa, Dacia Bridges.»

TARJA TURUNEN is right now on the last tour with her still currect album WHAT LIES BENEATH. The tour seems to be really succesful so far. But there are also other people who help her to go ahead. One of her band members is guitarist ALEX SCHOLPP who has been with her since the very beginnings of her solo career. That´s why we decided to put him few questions.

Hi Alex. You´re right now on the tour with TARJA. How is it going so far?
«Hi! So far all is fine, we had some adventures taking part (for example snowstorm in Romania) - rock´n´roll!»

Yeah, I´ve heard that you had some problems on the road to Sofia. What happened? Was the weather so bad?
«Just bad weather with too much snow. Closed roads. Warm bus!»

I´m curious but what do you usually do when you have to travel so long? Do you have fun in the bus? Could you tell to our readers maybe some funny stories?
«Hmmm… actually it´s very boring that´s why we usually travel at night. I try to sleep as much as I can, listen to music, watch a movie or write a song on my iPad.»

Don´t you feel tired when you´re on the stage after all those kilometres spending like that?
«No. When the show starts it´s just on and that´s it. Traveling like this makes you tired but everybody is also used to it and the moment when I´m on stage is the reason for that traveling so it makes no sense to be tired in that moment.»

This last tour with What Lies Beneath album started like a month ago. Which concerts have you enjoyed most so far?
«They´re all a little different but I do enjoy them all the same and feel comfortable on every stage.»

Is there any country you´re really looking forward to visit? I mean during this tour. There are really many countries.
«All of them! I am looking forward to a nice restaurant in Paris though.»

Do you prefer big or small venues? I mean like 3000-people-crowd or some club concerts?
«As I said before, I feel comfortable on every stage. It´s different when you play in a very small club where you can feel the breath of the people on you but this can be very intense, of course it´s also nice to play in a big place with loud fans. The energy is just different but I have fun in all situations.»

Could you name some songs that you really like to play? Songs that you´re really enjoying during live shows?
«Hmmm, Underneath maybe with slide solo or Falling Awake, Dark Star, also the acoustic set.»

Are you preparing some new material with your other bands? Could you reveal some secrets perhaps?
«Yes, constantly! :-)
In April I plan to release the debut album of "The Help". Later in the fall there will be the 2nd album of "Tieflader" and before the summer I will record guitars for the new acoustic album of my wife, Dacia Bridges.»

Are you going to record also the new TARJAs album?
«Yes, that is the plan.»

TOUMAS HOLOPAINEN: "YA NO SIENTO TRISTEZA, PENA O RABIA HACIA TARJA TURUNEN"

En una entrevista concedida al portal brasileño Roadie Crew, el tecladista y fundador de la banda de metal sinfónico, NIGHTWISH aseguró que "no tengo tristeza, pena o rabia hacia TARJA TURUNEN" y admite que "los problemas con TARJA ya no existen".

En la entrevista, TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN cuenta detalles sobre la filmación de la película a estrenar llamada "Imaginareum".

Cuando se le preguntó sobre la opinión suya sobre la separación de TARJA TURUNEN desde Angels Fall First, primer álbum que llevaría a la banda al éxito consagrado, hasta el último disco Once en la que tuvo participación "La Voz de Finlandia" en NIGHTWISH, el tecladista añadió "es un gran misterio, que jamás conseguiremos responder".

In the interview, TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN has details about the filming of the upcoming movie called "Imaginareum".

«Estoy muy contenta de estar aquí de nuevo. Ljubljana es una ciudad hermosa. Ayer (sábado.) fue un día de glorioso sol. Afortunadamente nos encontramos con un buen día. Fuimos a la TEC y dimos un maravilloso paseo por la ciudad. Me encanta la ciudad, muy limpia...»

¿Tu corres? Qué haces a menudo durante tu viaje?

«Sí, siempre que tenga la energía suficiente durante los conciertos. Si el camino es largo, descanso, de lo contrario uso todos los días para correr libremente.»

Sabemos que los músicos tienen una agenda muy apretada por los tours y raramente tienen tiempo para sí mismos. En la mayoría de los casos, están moviéndose dentro de un bus.

«La vida real de un músico es muy difícil. Muy desequilibrada.»

¿Cuentas con este ritmo?

«No. Este es un impuesto que deberé pagar (risas). Para mí, como cantante es muy importante cuidar de mí misma. Sabemos que cuando un cantante se cansa demasiado se enferma, el tour corre un peligro y aumenta la posibilidad de que termine. Hasta ahora esto no ha sucedido todavía. Gracias a Dios. Siempre presto atención a lo que estoy haciendo, lo que como, cómo visto... Y si tenemos alguna oportunidad de relajarnos, lo tomo. Estoy en buena compañía. Mis chicos son maravillosos. Yo me divierto mucho. Mis fans son increíbles, me dan mucho amor.»

Tu acabas de de mencionar a tus fans: cómo mantienes el contacto con ellos? ¿Cómo funciona esta relación?

«Para mí es muy importante tener buena relacione con los fans. Yo tengo mi propio blog. De vez en cuando para escribir una noticia de la visita o durante la preparación para el álbum. Reciben información de gran parte de lo que está sucediendo a las luces de los medios de comunicación. Al mismo tiempo, me parece que los medios sociales se están convirtiendo cada vez más importantes.»

Supongo que no había forma cuando iniciaste. ¿Has hecho un mayor énfasis en el contacto personal. Tal vez hace falta?

«Todavía hago estas cosas. Cuando me siento bien y también demasiado cansada camino en los conciertos entre los fans. Es muy importante tener un contacto personal con ellos.»

¿Puede pasar por alto los viejos tiempos?

«Ya sabes, el negocio ha cambiado radicalmente en los últimos diez años. Se lo increíble difícil que es hoy en día, para que escuchen tu voz y la música. Se trata de una batalla en la que todos los músicos están luchando.»

¿Si se olvida de los viejos tiempos (risas)? 

«Sí. A mi manera. Es un reto que los tiempos nos ofrecen en este momento: tu tienes que encontrar tu camino y tiene que ser lo suficientemente valiente para cambiar.»

Los organizadores la presentan como la ex cantante de NIGHTWISH. ¿Tiene en mente esto? ¿Qué tipo de relación que tiene con los ex miembros?

«Con los miembros de NIGHTWISH no tengo contacto. No me molesta si los organizadores de los conciertos me presenten como el ex-miembro, ya que es un hecho. Esto siempre será una parte de mi historia. Una gran parte de mi historia. Ahí es donde empecé y veía la música. Hoy en día, mi música es radicalmente diferente. Toda mi perspectiva sobre cómo tratar con cosas completamente diferentes. Pero ahora estoy muy feliz.»

En los últimos años, te has desarrollado como artista independiente. Es tu último álbum, WHAT LIES BENEATH, TARJA personalmente es lo que desea presentarnos?

«Este es un proceso. Este es un proceso muy interesante. Muchas más canciones he escrito por mí misma. Siempre es personal. Siempre hay que abrir la caja y sentirlo personal, sentir sus emociones de ti mismo en tu música que la gente puede escuchar y sentir. Al principio tuve un poco de miedo. En el último álbum estaba muy emocionada acerca de esto y más tranquila. Ya estaba lista. Incluso para el próximo álbum tengo una gran cantidad de material listo, y yo estoy dispuesta a dar lo mejor de mí....»

¿Cómo te ves hoy en tu debut?

«Estoy muy orgullosa de él, porque trabajé con pequeños pasos de él (risas). Él es bueno, porque tenía que empezar en alguna parte. Muy honesto, a partir de inocentes.»

Sabemos que tienes una voz muy particular, que a veces parece que no es necesario un fondo musical. ¿Es difícil escribir música para tu voz? 

«Es muy difícil. Suena tal vez a locura, pero a veces escribo poemas y es muy difícil para mi voz. Sé del rango de mi voz, pero a veces excedo mis límites, no siempre es lo mejor (risas). Pero de alguna manera es como un desafío. Siempre trabajo mucho en ella. Incluso hoy en día me funciona y tengo que hacerlo, eso es lo único que tengo: mi voz. Este es un instrumento que tengo en mí misma.»

¿En qué dirección estás ahora más inclinada: la ópera o el metal?

«Quiero desarrollarme como cantante lírica, porque esto me permite un concepto más. Este es un hecho. Cuando empecé a cantar metal, yo no sabía cómo hacer esto con mi voz. En la universidad estudié canto lírico. Así que conté con la presencia constante de mis profesores de canto que han sido un gran apoyo. Estoy encontrando la manera de cantar música lírica. Pero esto es un reto muy grande. Quiero seguir en este camino y, al mismo tiempo quiero seguir con los conciertos de música clásica; se trata de una gran parte de mí y de mi amor por la música y "rockear". Entonces estoy en un mundo perfecto.»

«I´m very happy to be here again. Ljubljana is a beautiful city. Yesterday (Saturday) was a day of glorious sunshine. Fortunately we have a good day. We went to the TEC and gave a wonderful tour of the city. I love the city, very clean...»

Do you run? Often do you do during your trip?

«Yes, provided you have enough energy during concerts. If the road is long, rest, otherwise use every day to run free.»

We know that musicians have a busy schedule of tours and rarely have time for themselves. In most cases, are moving into a bus.

«The real life of a musician is very difficult. Very unbalanced.»

Do you have this rhythm?

«No. This is a tax payable by you (laughs). For me as a singer is very important to take care of myself. We know that when a singer gets sick he gets tired, the tour is at risk and increases the possibility that end. So far this has not happened yet. Thank God. Always pay attention to what I'm doing what I eat, how you seen ... And if we have a chance to relax, take it. I'm in good company. My kids are wonderful. I have so much fun. My fans are awesome, give me lots of love.»

You just mention your fans: how do you keep in touch with them? How does this relationship?

«For me it is very important to have good relationship with the fans. I have my own blog. From time to time to write a story of the visit or during the preparation for the album. They are informed much of what is happening to the lights of the media. At the same time, I think that social media are becoming increasingly important.»

I guess there was no way when you started. Have you made a greater emphasis on personal contact. Maybe you need?

«I still do these things. When I feel good and way too tired at concerts with fans. It is very important to have personal contact with them.»

Will miss the old days?

«You know, the business has changed radically in the last ten years. He was incredibly difficult it is today, to hear your voice and music. This is a battle in which all the musicians are struggling.»

If you miss the old days (laughs)?

«Yes. To my way. It is a challenge that the times we currently offer: you have to find your way and have to be brave enough to change.»

The organizers presented as the former lead singer of NIGHTWISH. Do you plan this? What kind of relationship with the former members?

«With the members of NIGHTWISH I have no contact. I do not mind if the organizers of the concerts presented me as the former member, as it is a fact. This will always be a part of my story. A large part of my story. That's where I started and saw music. Today, my music is radically different. My whole outlook on dealing with completely different things. But now I'm very happy.»

In recent years, we have developed as an independent artist. It's your last album, WHAT LIES BENEATH, TARJA personally is what you want to introduce?

«This is a process. This is a very interesting process. I have written many more songs for myself. It is always personal. Always open the box and personal sense, feel their emotions of yourself in your music that people can hear and feel. At first I was a little scary. How do you see today in your debut?

«It is very difficult. Maybe it sounds crazy, but sometimes I write poems and is very difficult for my voice. What direction are you now more inclined: opera or metal?

TARJA TURUNEN alcanzó la fama internacional como cantante de la banda de metal NIGHTWISH (siendo todavía añorada por multitud de sus fans tras su salida de la misma) como por su exitosa carrera en solitario. Desde principios de 2012, TARJA se encuentra de gira después de lanzar su álbum WHAT LIES BENEATH, presentando conciertos en toda Europa, desde Moscú hasta Portugal antes de visitar América Latina donde ofrecerá conciertos en México, Costa Rica y Argentina. Anteriormente, en diciembre de 2011 la cantante lanzó su álbum navideño HARUS en CD/DVD realizando conciertos dentro de Finlandia.

TARJA TURUNEN ha alcanzado una exitosa carrera en solitario.

¡Gracias por atendernos TARJA! Has tenido un verano muy ocupado. ¿Cuál de tus conciertos es el que sientes que ha sido el más importante del verano?

«¡Un placer! Justo escribí en mi blog hace pocos días que este ha sido el mejor verano de mi carrera hasta la fecha. He podido actuar en diferentes conciertos y afrontar diversos retos, una cosa que adoro. Es difícil elegir uno, pero me quedo con el concierto junto a José Cura en el Festival de Ópera de Savonlinna en Finlandia. Fue un honor cantar junto a él.»

¿Te preparas de manera diferente para cantar en un concierto de heavy metal que en uno de música clásica?

«Estos estilos son muy diferentes, así que sí, mi preparación también difiere. Todavía me siento más nerviosa al cantar música clásica, porque era algo que no había hecho profesionalmente antes de que mi carrera en el rock floreciera. Antes de un concierto de música clásica hago ejercicios de respiración y vocalizo mucho más que antes de uno de rock. Necesito estar segura de que voy a dar lo mejor. También me enfoco en las partes técnicas del programa que vaya a realizar. Aún hoy sigo tomando lecciones privadas de canto, es algo vital para mí. En un concierto de rock puedo divertirme más y hacer lo que me apetezca en el momento. Y el público me da mucha energía.»

TARJA TURUNEN tiene muchos seguidores en América Latina que la apoyan mucho.

Eres la primera artista finlandesa en conseguir disco de oro en Alemania tanto en solitario como perteneciendo a una banda. ¿Cuáles son las ventajas de una carrera en solitario?¿Y por otra parte, echas algo de menos de tu época en NIGHTWISH?

«Es muy diferente cuando tienes que empezar una carrera en solitario que cuando estás en una banda ya asentada y conocida. Tuve que encontrar mi propio camino en el mundo de la música, y no fue fácil, pero estoy muy contenta de haber pasado por todo ello. Definitivamente me siento más cómoda ahora que nunca antes. La libertad que tengo para elegir la gente con la que colaboro, escribir y producir canciones es increíble. No tengo que luchar con fronteras o egos, porque soy yo la que toma las decisiones. Y no, no hecho particularmente nada de menos de mis años con la banda.»

Pasando tanto tiempo fuera de tu país, ¿qué te gusta hacer cuando regresas a Finlandia?

«Cuando vuelvo a Finlandia, me gusta ir a ver a mi familia en Carelia del Norte, porque les echo mucho de menos fuera. Nos reímos mucho, cocinamos, vamos a la sauna y disfrutamos de la compañía. También me gusta salir a correr por el campo, si el tiempo lo permite.»

Compartiste escenario con Angra en el festival Rock in Rio de Brasil. ¿Cómo surgió la colaboración?

«¡Fue increíble poder estar en el Rock In Río! Conozco a los miembros de Angra desde hace años y colaboré con su guitarrista Kiko Loureiro en mi primer disco. Me invitaron a unirme y no dudé en decir que sí. No canté todo el concierto con ellos, sino solo algunas canciones como artista invitada. Fue muy divertido tocar juntos y encontrarme con mis queridos fans brasileños. Tengo importantes club de fans en Brasil que me apoyan mucho.»

¿Y te queda algún artista con el que soñarías colaborar algún día?

«¡Peter Gabriel es mi héroe! Lo tiene todo, la voz, el carisma, la gran carrera… Todos nosotros necesitamos tener sueños, ¿verdad?»

Tarja Turunen achieved international fame as lead singer of metal band NIGHTWISH (while still missed by his many fans after leaving it) as for his successful solo career. Since early 2012, Tarja is on tour after releasing their album WHAT LIES BENEATH, presenting concerts throughout Europe, from Moscow to Portugal before visiting Latin America that offer concerts in Mexico, Costa Rica and Argentina. Previously, in December 2011 the singer released her holiday album HARUS CD/DVD performing concerts in Finland.

TARJA TURUNEN achieved a successful solo career.

Thank you for attending TARJA! You had a busy summer. Which of your concerts is that you feel has been the biggest summer?

«A pleasure! I wrote in my blog just few days ago that this was the best summer of my career to date. I have acted in different concerts and cope with various challenges, one thing I love. It's hard to choose one, but I prefer the concert with José Cura in the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland. It was an honor to sing with him.»

Do you prepare differently for singing in a heavy metal concert in a classical music?

«These styles are very different, so yes, my preparation also differs. I still feel more nervous to sing classical music, because it was something I had not done professionally before my career in rock flourish. Before a concert of classical music do breathing exercises and vocalize more than a rock before. I need to be sure I will do better. I also focused on the technical parts of the program to be undertaken. Even today I'm taking private lessons in singing, is vital for me. At a rock concert and I can have more fun doing what I want at the moment. And the audience gives me great energy.»

TARJA TURUNEN has many followers in Latin America that are very supportive.

You are the first Finnish artist to achieve gold status in Germany, both solo as belonging to a gang. What are the advantages of a solo career? And on the other hand, you miss something less of your time in NIGHTWISH?

«It's very different when you have to start a solo career when you're in a band already established and known. I had to find my own way in the world of music, and it was not easy, but I'm very glad I went through all this. I definitely feel more comfortable now than ever before. The freedom I have to choose the people you collaborate, write and produce songs is incredible. I have to fight not to borders or egos, it's me who makes the decisions. And no, it made it particularly anything less from my years with the band.»

Spending so much time out of your country, what you enjoy doing when you come to Finland?

«When I return to Finland, I like going to see my family in North Karelia, because they really miss out. We laughed a lot, cook, go to the sauna and enjoy the company. I also like to go running down the field, weather permitting.»

Angra shared the stage with the Rock in Rio festival in Brazil. How did the collaboration?

«It was amazing to be at the Rock In Rio! I know members of Angra years and collaborated with guitarist Kiko Loureiro on my first album. I was invited to join and did not hesitate to say yes. I did not sing the entire concert with them, but only a few songs as guest artist. It was very fun to play together and meet my dear Brazilian fans. I have important club in Brazil fans very supportive.»

What is an artist you would dream to collaborate with someday?

«Peter Gabriel is my hero! It has everything, voice, charisma, great career ... We all need to dream, right?»

Apenas unos días antes del concierto, Avtora.com está asociado con el artista para conocer los detalles sobre el espectáculo "Arena Armeec Sofía", su relación con Paulo Coelho, las relaciones con NIGHTWISH, y sobre sí misma.

Recientemente estrenaste Outlanders. Cuéntanos cómo y ¿por qué se inspira en Paulo Coelho? 

«Me encanta esta forma de escribir sobre los sueños y la vida en general. Muchas veces me jacto de que creo en la forma descrita en sus libros. Después de leer "El Alquimista", me quedé atónita. He leído todos sus libros, incluso en varios idiomas.

Me puse en contacto con editores de Paulo, pidiendo permiso para utilizar sus textos para Outlanders. Afortunadamente, ¡estaba de acuerdo! Sentí que la canción necesita un texto, sobre los sueños y de nuestras vidas, pero Coelho realmente sabe cómo hacer esto.» 

Hiciste canciones con varios músicos como Joe Satriani, Phil Labonte, Scorpions y más. ¿Tienes una lista de personas con las que quiere trabajar y un plan de este tipo de proyectos nuevos? 

«Hay muchos músicos maravillosos y artistas con los que quiero trabajar. Yo honestamente lista, pero espero que estas asociaciones y el nuevo álbum, y en el futuro.

Por desgracia, ahora no puedo darle más información sobre ellos. Uno siempre aprende algo nuevo de este tipo de proyectos y está muy complacido de trabajar en estrecha colaboración con otros artistas.»

¿Cómo surgió la idea de Beauty and the Beat? Y ¿por qué elegiste Bulgaria?   

«Durante mucho tiempo soñé en hacer conciertos de música clásica con orquesta y coro en diferentes países. Hace algún tiempo a Mike Terrana se le ocurrió hacer temas clásicos y la idea de hacer estos conciertos, vino de mi país.

Aunque hemos hablado de ello después, también dijo que sueña con él durante algún tiempo. Esto le dio a seguir adelante y decidió comenzar de Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Era tan hermoso! Nunca lo olvidaré.

Entendimos que podemos seguir para hacer estos conciertos, e incluso ahora tenemos planes concretos para una visita de la belleza y el ritmo en 2013. ¡No puedo esperar!»

   

¿Qué shows te gustan más - un lugar pequeño e íntimo o apariciones en festivales o de gran tamaño.?    

«Ambas opciones tienen sus ventajas. A veces es muy divertido para cantar a la mesa - para ver la reacción de miles de personas al mismo tiempo, pero por otro lado es tan maravilloso sentir el apoyo de sus verdaderos fans de sus actuaciones individuales. El festival llega a más personas a la vez, porque algunos de ellos han llegado a ver sólo su show. ¿Tienes planes para captar el concierto en DVD y teniendo en cuenta a Bulgaria como un posible destino? 

«Mi primera carrera de concertista en DVD será filmada en Rosario, Argentina, pero la última gira tenemos cámaras por todos lados para recoger material.

Usted debe saber que me encanta cantar con el público búlgaro, ya que muestran su verdadero amor. Estoy seguro de que algo va a suceder antes, durante y después del concierto. Están en mi corazón!»

A partir del 26 de enero en el concierto de "Sofia Arena Armeec" le mostrará el quinto en el país, lo que mire a su alrededor? Cuando en Bulgaria que más te gusta y por qué?   

«Wow. Es increíble pensar que estuve en el país tantas veces! En realidad hay muchas buenas experiencias en Bulgaria, para enumerar. Por ejemplo, he visto su imagen pintada en una pared en Kavarna, dio una orquesta increíble concierto de música clásica y el coro en Plovdiv y kufyah con miles de personas en Sofía. Dos veces! ¿Qué se siente al saber que miles de adolescentes sienten amor con vos? ¿Cómo se los trata y se reunió con algunos de ellos personalmente?

«Oh, me encontré con muchos de estos chicos maravillosos! Pero no son sólo los niños, hay muchos hombres maduros!

Sé que la gente tiene sentimientos por mí, pero por otro lado, el poder de la música es lo que hace que se sientan así.

Ser mujer en el mundo del rock, que significa ser muy fuerte para afrontar los retos de la primera línea y también saber lo que quieres. Me encanta mis fans y sin ellos no habría sido lo que soy.»

¿Cantas en la ducha y qué? 

«NUNCA canto en la ducha» 

Finalmente, una cuestión delicada que todo el mundo quiere preguntar, pero no tengas miedo: ¿Cuál es su relación con NIGHTWISH ahora?

¿Qué puede esperar el 26 de enero en el concierto en Sofía? 

«Espero que el público esté totalmente loco! Ha sucedido a mi concierto anterior en Sofía! La lista de canciones es muy especial porque de esta gira se pretende no repetir canciones en muchas ciudades donde ya lo hacen.

«There are many wonderful musicians and artists who want to work. I honestly list, but I hope that these partnerships and the new album, and in the future.

How did the idea of ​​Beauty and the Beat? And why did you choose Bulgaria?

What shows do you like best - a small and intimate or appearances at festivals or large.?

«Both options have their advantages. Sometimes it's fun to sing at the table - to see the reaction of thousands of people at one time, but on the other side is so wonderful to feel the support of their true fans of their individual performances. The festival reaches more people at once, because some of them have come to see just your show. On the other hand, my concerts know that people have bought tickets to see my particular implementation. No one can feel the true love in the air.»

Do you have plans to capture the concert on DVD and given to Bulgaria as a possible destination?

«My first career as a concert DVD will be filmed in Rosario, Argentina, but the last tour we have cameras everywhere to collect material.

It is important to drink enough water and eat healthy, because everything you eat, after a few days appears on the skin. Good cosmetic products are also important. I have terribly dry skin and need a constant humidity!

I train my voice every day and also helps keep me in shape. Classical singing requires much patience and a job that never ends. I want to continue to grow as a singer.»

How does it feel to know that thousands of teenagers feel love with you? How are they treated and met some of them personally?

«Oh, I met many of these kids wonderful! But not only children, many older men!

I know people have feelings for me, but on the other hand, the power of music is what makes them feel that way.

Being a woman in the world of rock, it means to be very strong to meet the challenges of the first line and also know what you want. I love my fans and without them there would have been what I am.»
