A LA ESPERA DE COLOURS IN THE ROAD LATINOAMÉRICA 2014

Ha sido un largo camino para la voz de Finlandia, pero quien ha logrado romper con su voz las barreras geográficas e idiomáticas, cosechando un gran número de seguidores alrededor del mundo… Tarja Turunen se ha consagrado como una de las voces femeninas más importantes del metal, dejando sin efecto los pronósticos más desalentadores al inicio de su carrera en solitario.

Sus álbumes en el terreno del metal, My Winter Storm en 2007, luego con What Lies Beneath 2010 y Colours In The Dark en 2013, han venido registrando la búsqueda de su propia esencia y sonido; el control que ha tomado sobre su carrera le ha permitido hablarle a sus fans, quienes se han conectado con su mensaje y han respondido positivamente a su ¨nueva voz¨, pues ya no es sólo una interprete sino además compositora.

El año 2012 fue un año que me atrevería a llamar crucial, no sólo en el ámbito profesional, si no a además en el personal, con la llegada de su hija Naomi y quien seguramente es un motivo más de inspiración, al igual que su creciente número de fans.

Para 2013 irrumpió Colours In The Dark, un álbum muy esperado, al igual que su gira Colours In The Road que mantuvo a la expectativa a sus fanáticos. Durante ese mismo año, compartió tarima con Floor Jansen, actual vocalista de Nightwish, en la edición número 11 de ¨Metal Female Voices Fest 2013¨. 

Además a su paso por Europa, se pudieron escuchar algunos éxitos de su antigua banda, lo que ha dado mucho que hablar y ha causado gran expectación entre quienes esperan verla en territorio latinoamericano este año con el anhelado Colours In The Road Latinoamérica – 2014, y que tal vez no imaginaban la posibilidad de escuchar algunos de estos temas en la voz de Turunen.

ARGENTINA - Durante el año 2011 Tarja estuvo girando presentando las canciones del disco “What Lies Beneath” y “My Winter Storm”, los dos de su carrera solista.

Luego de girar durante meses por América y Europa y participar en importantes festivales de metal en el viejo continente, la finlandesa regresó a Argentina para dar un nuevo show.

Esta vez eligió el teatro Círculo de Rosario, en donde ofreció dos fechas y donde grabó el DVD ‘Tarja Act I’, el primero de su carrera solista y también su primer CD en vivo, pues el material se estrenó en los dos formatos.

Al respecto de este disco y de su carrera, conversamos con Tarja unos minutos y esto fue lo que nos contó:

Muchos artistas del género graban sus DVD’s en Europa o Estados Unidos. ¿Por qué elegiste a Argentina para realizar ‘Tarja ACT I’?
Primero que todo, Argentina es mi nuevo hogar, estoy radicada acá hace cuatro años, así que lo siento como mi nueva casa. Luego, me pareció oportuno mostrarle a todo el mundo cómo son mis fans en Argentina. Yo estoy orgullosa de la relación que tengo con ellos.

El Teatro el Círculo de Rosario, lo elegí porque el año pasado lo conocí y el lugar me encantó, es hermoso; el escenario es muy grande y es perfecto para un show como el que yo ofrezco.

TARJA TURUNEN: "NIGHTWISH PARA MÍ, YA ES HISTORIA"

ARGENTINA - En octubre se cumplen ya siete años de la ruptura TARJA TURUNEN - NIGHTWISH, y también de la famosa carta abierta posteada en el website de la banda, con la que se puso punto final a la historia. Pero la soprano no se quedó de brazos cruzados y comenzó una carrera solista, que ya consta con tres trabajos de estudio, Henkäys Ikuisuudesta (2006), My Winter Storm (2007),  What Lies Beneath (2010), y con el reciente DVD/CD, ACT I: Live in Rosario, grabado en el Teatro El Círculo. Desde su residencia en Argentina, TARJA atiende el teléfono, con su dulzura característica, con su 90% de español y 10% de inglés, y dejando en claro que como dice su tema “I Walk Alone", “Vayan y díganle al mundo que todavía sigo acá.”

-¿Cómo fue que de todas las ciudades que visitaste en tu gira anterior, terminaste eligiendo Rosario para grabar tu primer DVD?
-Rosario es linda, el año pasado hicimos un concierto en ese mismo Teatro (El círculo), tuve la suerte de conocer el lugar y por eso lo elegimos, porque es muy hermoso, con un escenario suficientemente grande para la producción que yo necesito para mi show, y empezamos a organizar todo en ese mismo momento, por eso lo elegimos, por el teatro.

ARGENTINA - El programa radial "Tiempos violentos", conducido por César Fuentes Rodríguez, de la Radio argentina Rock & Pop, entrevistó a través de una comunicación telefónica a Tarja Turunen. La vocalista finesa anunció sobre el posterior disco de What Lies Beneath, que terminará las grabaciones de voces a principios del año 2013 y destacó el significado del primer corte del DVD "Act 1", Into The Sun.

Tiempos Violentos (TV): ¿Por qué elegiste la grabación en Rosario?

Tarja Turunen (TT): Elegí el Teatro el Círculo en particular porque el año pasado en 2011 conocí el escenario y es espectacular, hermoso. Organizamos todo para filmar en ese lugar. Tuvimos que llevar todo de Buenos Aires, sonidos, luces, lásers para la producción. Eso fue difícil, porque los teatros en general no están acostumbrados a trabajar con los artistas como yo o con las bandas en general.

TV: ¿Quedaron satisfechos con los resultados de la grabación?

TT: Todo salió bárbaro. Todavía estoy trabajando con la edición de videos, con arte y tapa. Estoy muy feliz.

REVIEW TARJA TURUNEN EN SAN PETERSBURGO

La diva finlandesa, TARJA TURUNEN ha ganado popularidad a nivel mundial, sobre todo, por su participación en NIGHTWISH. En 1996, mientras estudiaba en la Academia Sibelius desarrolló una gran voz. La banda finlandesa sinfónica, obtuvo el éxito en todos los continentes, sumado a la multitud de fans, incluso en Rusia - provocaron peleas y acusaciones de incompetencia por parte de los miembros de la banda en 2005, por lo que TARJA dejó la banda. Una pequeña adición de voces masculinas de inmediato recordó el pasado de la carrera como cantante, pero, de hecho, la escena era una versión ponderada de EVANESCENCE, muy similar a WITHIN TEMPTATION. El éxito principal de "I Walk Alone hizo" hizo sonar las campanas poco a poco, batiendo lágrimas de los hombres y avaros mujeres.

REVIEW: TARJA TURUNEN EN BARCELONA, ESPAÑA

Cuando se oficializó la escisión de la banda finesa NIGHTWISH a finales del 2005, a muchos les sorprendió que la banda rompiera con su vocalista de siempre, TARJA TURUNEN en el momento más dulce de su carrera profesional. La herida se curaría con el tiempo y ambas partes aprendieron a funcionar independientemente, unos con una nueva vocalista, y la otra con una nueva banda para respaldarle sobre el escenario. Analizando la situación casi siete años después, la realidad es que NIGHTWISH –como marca más reconocible y generadores de la música que la gente reconoce y recuerda- han tenido más suerte que TARJA. Siguen llenando grandes recintos, sus discos venden de manera consistente y su futuro pinta más o menos brillante. TARJA, por su parte, tuvo que hacerse fuerte y explorar en solitario un mundo más o menos adverso para su propuesta como es el del heavy metal. Ha salido airosa, con un primer disco recomendable y un segundo trabajo que ha pasado más desapercibido pero que mantiene las formas y el interés de sus fans más dedicados. No obstante, ver a la diva TURUNEN en una sala para 700 personas cuando podría estar en las mayores arenas de Europa durante el próximo año siempre te da que pensar. Está claro que el éxito económico no siempre se traduce en felicidad interior (habría que hacer un test MMPI 2 a TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN y TARJA TURUNEN y cotejar resultados) pero lo cierto es que, al menos de cara a la galería, TARJA se quedó con la pajita más corta después de haberse creído irremplazable durante mucho tiempo, si hacemos caso a las historias que explica la biografía “Once Upon a NIGHTWISH” del periodista finés Mappe Olilla. Había un cierto sabor agridulce por estar viendo a TARJA bailar y hacer los cuernos sobre el escenario de una pequeña sala para 800 personas de Hospitalet de Llobregat. Algo parecía descolocado.

Musicalmente hablando, la propuesta de TARJA es atractiva y original. “WHAT LIES BENEATH”, su último disco, es más denso instrumentalmente que el anterior “MY WINTER STORM” y eso, extrapolado al directo, puede dar resultados mezclados. El concierto se inició con “Anteroom of Death”, un tema repleto de contraste, de acelerones y parones, que sirvió para marcar el ritmo a seguir en la actuación. Momentos duros y metaleros mezclados con baladas y temas más delicados, siempre interpretados con el portentoso estilo vocal de TARJA. Algunas como “Lost Northern Star” eran quizá demasiado complejas para sonar al inicio del show, pero este no es el show metalero típico donde la banda sale a matar en los cuatro primeros temas y luego ya se relaja un poco. TARJA hace las cosas a su estilo y si el público la acompaña, pues mucho mejor. Mejor recibida fue “Falling Awake”, con su toque de metal más moderno que ALEX SCHOLPP ejecuta a la perfección como guitarrista. No obstante, desde el principio del show quedó claro que la atención que no recibía TARJA la recibía el bueno de MIKE TERRANA. “The Beast” se crece en directo, como todos sabemos, y demostró a lo largo de más de una hora y media de show que por él no pasan los años. Han pasado casi quince años desde que nos sorprendió a todos junto a RAGE, con esos interminables solos durante los cuales un roadie le cambiaba los platos que iba rompiendo, pero el batería americano sigue siendo un valor seguro. No solo eso, sino que para una artista poco metalera como TARJA, TERRANA es signo de credibilidad, de verosimilitud. Para dejar claro que aquí se viene a trabajar, TERRANA ejecutó un mastodóntico solo de muchos minutos que dejó a todo el mundo en estado de perplejidad. Tras el brutal solo, la banda volvió a por “Little Lies”, otro de los mejores temas del último disco.

Aunque en Barcelona no interpretó su cover del “Still of the Night” de WHITESNAKE, si que presentó una nueva canción de tinte melancólico titulada “Into The Sun”, que convenció a la mayoría del público. Convenció más aún la eterna “Bless the Child” de su antigua banda, la única concesión “real” que hizo al catálogo de NIGHTWISH. No hace falta decir que las primeras filas enloquecieron haciendo en cinco minutos todo el headbanging que no habían hecho en otros momentos de la noche. TARJA, ya en su salsa y vestida con un precioso traje negro, hacía los cuernos y agitaba las melenas como pocas veces hizo en su anterior banda, demostrando que ha tenido que ponerse ligeramente las pilas y los resultados han sido fabulosos.

Casi en los bises, la banda realizó un set de piano y acústicas en la que tocaron un medley de “Rivers of Lust”, “Minor Heaven”, “Montañas de Silencio” y “Sing For Me”, con TARJA a las teclas. Esencialmente, el mismo tipo de set tranquilito que en la anterior visita Tarja realizó entre el público con toda su banda, mientras muchos asistentes se deshacían en lágrimas. Y es que si una capacidad sigue teniendo la vocalista es la de transmitir emotividad con su voz e interpretaciones. En el final de “Until My Last Breath”, hubo momentos de absoluta saturación de los sentidos escuchando el operático torrente de la finesa. Impresionante es un adjetivo que se queda corto ante la fuerza que desprenden sus cuerdas vocales. Justo antes de eso, interpretó un inesperado “Over The Hils and Far Away” de Gary Moore que puso a saltar a todo el recinto. Esta fue la otra “concesión” que hizo a la carrera de su antigua banda, que popularizó de nuevo el viejo tema del guitarra irlandés. Aunque hemos hablado de ello después, también dijo que sueña con él durante algún tiempo. Esto le dio a seguir adelante y decidió comenzar de Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Era tan hermoso! Nunca lo olvidaré.

Entendimos que podemos seguir para hacer estos conciertos, e incluso ahora tenemos planes concretos para una visita de la belleza y el ritmo en 2013. ¡No puedo esperar!»

¿Tienes planes para captar el concierto en DVD y teniendo en cuenta a Bulgaria como un posible destino? 

«Mi primera carrera de concertista en DVD será filmada en Rosario, Argentina, pero la última gira tenemos cámaras por todos lados para recoger material.

Sé que la gente tiene sentimientos por mí, pero por otro lado, el poder de la música es lo que hace que se sientan así.

Ser mujer en el mundo del rock, que significa ser muy fuerte para afrontar los retos de la primera línea y también saber lo que quieres. Me encanta mis fans y sin ellos no habría sido lo que soy.»

¿Por qué? Acá es muy difícil caminar por la calle, salir, me conocen todos. Allá también, pero no tanto (risas)
