Esa ausencia se debió a que el último fragmento de su WHAT LIES BENEATH TOUR la llevó a tocar por todo el mundo, recorriendo países como Bulgaria, Rumania, Grecia, Estonia, Ucrania, Portugal, España, Francia, Holanda, Bélgica, Suiza, Bielorusia, Rusia, México, Costa Rica, y ahora nuevamente la Argentina.
Si bien da vueltas por todos lados desde que estaba al frente de NIGHTWISH, la banda de metal sinfónico que le dio fama, TARJA es una mujer cosmopólita que aún no deja de sorprenderse por la variedad de culturas, la belleza de las distintas ciudades y la grandeza de los distintos escenarios por los que pasa.
De todos los lugares en los que tocó, hay uno que particularmente la atrapó. Se trata del Teatro El Círculo, ubicado en la esquina de Mendoza y Laprida en nuestra ciudad. Por eso a más de un año de aquel amor a simple vista, este viernes 30 y sábado 31 de marzo la vocalista vuelve a Rosario para grabar especialmente su primer DVD en vivo con su banda solista. Ante tamaña expectativa y la inminencia de ambos shows, TARJA charló con RosarioRock.com. Esto es lo que dijo:
Estás en la recta final del WHAT LIES BENEATH TOUR, que te ha llevado por todo el mundo en los últimos dos años. ¿Como ha sido todo hasta ahora?
«Todo fue genial. Estuvimos viajando mucho y ha sido un éxito, en el sentido de que con esta gira ha venido más gente a mis conciertos. Está bueno darse cuenta de que tengo una vida artística. Y ahora estamos con muchas expectativas de lanzar el DVD, que vamos a filmar en Rosario. Me siento muy feliz porque creo que es un buen momento para hacerlo.»
Te presentaste aquí en el Teatro El Círculo el año pasado y ahora estás volviendo para registrar el DVD de la gira. ¿Cuál fue la razón de esta elección? ¿De quién fue la idea?
«Estoy enamorada del lugar, esa fue la razón sinceramente. Cuando estuve el año pasado dije “guau, este es uno de los lugares más hermosos en los cuales estuve, me gustaría filmarlo ahí”, y afortunadamente me dieron el permiso para hacerlo. Todos en la banda ya sea los músicos o la crew también adoran el lugar, y esa fue la razón. Los balcones son espectaculares y el escenario mismo es muy hermoso. Todo eso es lo que quiero mostrar en el DVD.»
Además del lugar, ¿cuál es la diferencia en lo que respecta al público? Hace dos semanas, por ejemplo, estabas tocando en Rusia y ahora estos shows por Argentina…
«Si, estuve tocando 4 meses por toda Europa, Rusia incluida, y venimos de tocar en Centroamérica, México y Costa Rica, antes de estos shows. La gente es diferente en cada lugar, en el sentido de que sus culturas difieren. Naciste en un lugar diferente y ves o sentís la vida desde un lugar diferente, es la cultura. En Rusia, por ejemplo, el clima era muy frío y la gente estaba preocupada en si yo estaría o no lista para el concierto, y temían de que cancelara el show por culpa del tiempo. Obviamente no lo hicimos porque como finlandesa que soy estoy acostumbrada al frío. La gente es muy cálida, el frío no está adentro de las casas, está afuera (risas), así que todo lo demás fue muy bueno, fueron conciertos muy cálidos.»
Has confesado que te gusta Serú Girán y Soda Stereo, e inclusive has tocado “Signos” en tu último show acá en Rosario, ¿Podemos esperar otro tributo a algún músico argentino para los recitales del fin de semana?
«Al ser un show especial por la realización del DVD, en esta oportunidad no he preparado nada de músicos argentinos lamentablemente. A pesar de que admiro a muchos artistas, esta ocasión va a ser especial. Igual voy a estar tocando muchas canciones que a la gente de Rosario le va a encantar escuchar, pero definitivamente es otro tipo de show.»
Estás trabajando en un nuevo material, ¿Podemos esperar algún tema nuevo o alguna sorpresa?
«Si, va a haber un par de sorpresas y dos canciones nuevas quizá.»

Has escrito canciones de música clásica y de heavy metal, ¿Te imaginás incursionando en otros géneros en el futuro?
«No, no creo. Me siento muy cómoda en la manera de trabajar que tengo en este momento. Me considero una cantante, no me considero una cantante de heavy metal o clásica, soy una artista que hace música con el corazón, pero éste es el lugar en el cual estoy en este momento, y donde me siento muy bien. Debe haber un montón de otros desafíos para mí en el futuro, me encanta afrontar desafíos, pero cambiar el estilo, no lo creo. Tengo muchos proyectos, estoy haciendo música clásica, cantando ópera, también algo de música electrónica, pero no es un cambio radical, créeme.»
Naciste en un lugar muy frío, en un pueblo chiquito de Finlandia, ¿De que manera te influencia el clima a la hora de escribir?
«El clima es influyente en mí, sí. Amo el sol y la energía que me da la luz, a pesar de haber nacido en un lugar frío y oscuro. En Finlandia también tenemos las 4 estaciones, como en Argentina. El invierno es muy frío, muy frustrante y muy oscuro. En verano es muy cálido y hay mucha luz solar, y ese es el clima que mejor me sienta y que siempre me ha inspirado. Escribo mejores canciones cuando el sol está brillando, aún estando en la playa (risas).»
Llevás viviendo un tiempo ya prolongado en el país... Además de admirar a algunos artistas, ¿qué costumbres o cosas has adoptado?
«La comida. Amo la comida definitivamente. Es la mejor que haya probado de todos los lugares donde estuve. En España e Italia hay buena comida, pero realmente ustedes comen muy bien. El otro factor es la gente; amo la gente, amo estar acá. Me siento como en casa, nunca he tenido ningún problema en la ciudad. Siendo finlandesa, la gente me ha aceptado como soy.»
A pesar de ser una cantante con una carrera exitosa, sos una mujer de 34 años que lleva mucho tiempo de casada, ¿Es un buen momento para pensar en tener hijos y formar una familia? ¿O con las exigencias de la carrera se torna complicado?
«Si me encantaría, algún día, por supuesto. Te mentiría si no te dijera que es difícil, seguro que es muy complicado. Pero es un desafío que junto con mi marido nos gustaría afrontar algún día. Sería hermoso tener un hijo.»
¿Cuál es el mensaje para los fans rosarinos que están expectantes por los shows del fin de semana?
«¡Yo también estoy muy ansiosa y ya quiero ir a Rosario!. ¡Espero tanto pasar un buen momento con mis fans de Rosario!»

«Everything was great. We were traveling a lot and has been successful in the sense that this tour has been more people at my concerts. It is good to realize that I have an artistic life. And now we have high expectations to launch the DVD, we're going to shoot in Rosario. I feel very happy because I think it's a good time to do it.»
You showed up here at the Circle Theatre last year and now you're going to record the DVD of the tour. What was the reason for this choice? Whose idea was it?
«I'm in love with the place, honestly that was the reason. When I was last year said "wow, this is one of the most beautiful places in which I was, I would like to film there," and fortunately I got the permission to do so. Everyone in the band either musicians or the crew also love the place, and that was the reason. The balconies are spectacular and the stage itself is very beautiful. All this is what I show on the DVD.»
In addition to the place, what is the difference with respect to the public? Two weeks ago, for example, were playing in Russia and now these shows in Argentina ...
«Yes, I played 4 months throughout Europe, including Russia, and have come to play in Central America, Mexico and Costa Rica, before these shows. People are different in each place, in the sense that their cultures differ. You were born in a different place and see or feel life from a different place, is culture. In Russia, for example, the weather was very cold and people were worried whether I would or not ready for the concert, and feared that the show canceled because of weather. Obviously we did not because as I'm used Finnish cold. People are very warm, not cold in the houses is out (laughs), so everything else was very good concerts were very warm.»
You confessed that you like Soda Stereo and Seru Giran, and even have touched "Signs" in your last show here in Rosario, Can we expect another tribute to a Argentine musician for recitals weekend?
«As a special show for the realization of the DVD, this time I have not prepared anything unfortunately Argentine musicians. Although I admire many artists, this occasion will be special. Like I'll be playing many songs that people of Rosario will love to hear, but it definitely is another type of show.»
You are working on new material, can we expect a new topic or a surprise?
«Yes, there will be a few surprises and perhaps two new songs.»
You've written songs for classical music and heavy metal, Can you imagine moving into other genres in the future?
«No, I think. I feel very comfortable in the way of working that I have at this time. I consider myself a singer, I am not a singer of heavy metal or classical, I'm an artist who makes music with heart, but this is the place where I am right now, and where I feel great. There should be plenty of other challenges for me in the future, I love facing challenges, but change the style, I think not. I have many projects I'm doing classical music, opera singing, also some electronic music, but not a radical change, believe me.»
You were born in a very cold place in a small town in Finland, How does the weather influence you when writing?
«The climate is influential on me, yes. I love the sun and the energy it gives me the light, despite being born in a cool, dark place. In Finland we also have the 4 seasons, and Argentina. Winter is very cold, very frustrating and very dark. In summer is very warm and there are lots of sunlight, and that is the climate that best suits me and that always inspired me. I write better songs when the sun is shining, even when on the beach (laughs).»
You lived a long time and in the country ... Besides admiring some artists, what habits or things you've taken?
«The food. I love food definitely. Is the best I've tried all the places where I was. In Spain and Italy there are good food, but really you eat very well. The other factor is the people, love people, love being here. I feel at home, never had any problem in the city. Being Finnish, people accepted me as I am.»
Despite being a singer with a successful career, you're a woman of 34 who has long been married, is it a good time to think about having children and raise a family? Or with the demands of career becomes complicated?
«If I'd love to, someday, of course. I'd be lying if I told you it's hard, sure it's very complicated. But it is a challenge with my husband we'd like to meet someday. It would be nice to have a child.»
What is the message for the fans who are excited to Rosario shows this weekend?
«I am also very anxious and I want to go to Rosario!. I hope both have a good time with my fans in Rosario!»
